Capt. Mohammed Abood Babaidan studied Marine Science at Southampton University in the United Kingdom. In 1981, he obtained a Master (F.G.) certificate from Arab Maritime Transport Academy in Egypt. After working as Navigation Officer of various types of merchant vessels for 5 years, Capt. Abood joined the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) in 1982. He has 20 years of experience in this company, holding various positions which led to the establishment of both NSCSA Dammam and Jubail in 1984 and 1985 respectively. In 1995, Capt. Abood served as Regional Manager of NSCSA in Middle Eastern region, responsible for shipping agencies in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Cyprus, and Malta.

Capt. Abood was appointed as Chairman of Maritime Committee at Jeddah Chambers of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) in 1998. He also served as Vice-Chairman of Shipowners Committee at JCCI. He is part of the board member of several organizations and has published research papers in local and international media.

In 2002, Capt. Abood resigned from NSCSA to establish Capt. Abood Center for Marine Studies, Consultant & Arbitration (MSCA). The Center was the first marine consultancy center ever founded in the Kingdom.
