Saleh B. K'aki is President and Chief Executive Officer of Vela International Marine Ltd, and Vice Chairman (SUMED). Saleh has 30 years of experience with the company, advancing through a series of field and operational assignments leading to his current position.

Saleh was educated at KFUPM, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. He began his working life for Saudi Aramco in 1974 and worked as an Engineer at the Refinery and Terminal. From June 1982 through September 1984 he held Superintendent positions with Refinery / Terminal Operations and Maintenance, and East / West Pipelines.

He was promoted to Manager of East / West Pipelines in 1985 after acting as Manager there for a year. He followed this with managerial positions with Ras Tanura Terminal Operations, Oil Supply Planning and Scheduling (OSPAS), Crude Sales, and Product Sales and Marketing.

From December 95 to December 1996 he was Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Limited.

In 1996 he was promoted to Executive Director of Sales and Marketing where he was responsible for sales and marketing of all Saudi Aramco crude oil, products and LPG. In November 1997 he was promoted to Vice President of the organization.

He was transferred to Joint Venture Development and Coordination in February 1999, as Vice President, where he was responsible for negotiations for new refining and marketing joint venture investments as well as protecting the company interest in the current downstream investments in refining and marketing assets.

In June of 2002 he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Vela International Marine Limited where he is currently responsible for the shipping arm of Saudi Aramco, transporting approximately 2.4 million barrels of crude and products per day. Vela has one of the largest fleets in the world consisting of 24 owned vessels (VLCC/Product carriers), 18 time charters and an average of 70 voyage charters per annum.
