Saudi Arabia is the world’s main oil exporting country
and the largest economy in the Middle East. Its diversified
industries and internationally driven economy rely largely
on sea trade, making the Saudi ports the Kingdom’s main
gateway to most of its commercial trading with the world.
There are eight industrial and commercial seaports in
Saudi Arabia:
- Jeddah Islamic Port
- King Abdulaziz Port – Dammam
- King Fahad Industrial Port – Yanbu
- King Fahad Industrial Port – Jubail
- Jubail Commercial Port
- Yanbu Commercial Port
- Jizan Port
- Dhiba Port
Their location on the Red Sea and the Gulf makes Saudi
Arabia a central commercial hub for the Middle East, North
Africa and central Asia.
The Saudi Ports Authority, which is an independent government
body, is responsible for the performance and development
of all ports, and for contracting the private sector to
manage and operate the ports on a commercial basis.
