Saudi Arabia is the world’s main oil exporting country and the largest economy in the Middle East. Its diversified industries and internationally driven economy rely largely on sea trade, making the Saudi ports the Kingdom’s main gateway to most of its commercial trading with the world.

Their location on the Red Sea and the Gulf makes Saudi Arabia a central commercial hub for the Middle East, North Africa and central Asia.
The Saudi Ports Authority, which is an independent government body, is responsible for the performance and development of all ports, and for contracting the private sector to manage and operate the ports on a commercial basis.
UASC was established in July 1976 jointly by an Agreement for Establishment executed between the six shareholding nations namely Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Iraq. As the National Shipping Line of the shareholding states, UASC's primary mission is to serve the shipping needs of the Middle East region in general and the GCC in particular. UASC is offering a wide ranging network of container liner services to and from the Middle East, encompassing most of the world’s important markets thereby meeting the requirements of the customers.
UASC is the largest ocean container carrier of dry cargo to the Middle East. The company assumed this position on merit as a carrier providing first class service to its customers. UASC aims to expand into global trades, where commercially feasible, to strengthen the operations and to provide a wider service network to its customers.
UASC is successfully diversifying through subsidiaries and joint ventures to provide a range of shipping related services, which include shipping agencies, freight forwarding, land transportation, sea/air cargo, petrochemical transportation, chartering, container repairs and storage.
A recent addition to the group is the affiliate company, United Arab Chemical Carriers Limited (UACC) which was incorporated in August 2007. UACC will engage in the most dynamic and fastest growing sub-sectors within the tanker segment, ocean carriage of chemicals and clean petroleum products.
Another recent addition to support UASC’s wider service network was the creation of UASC Services in 2007. UASC Services will handle and be responsible for the co-ordination of non-shipping activities within the UASC Group.
The Maritime Co. For Navigation is a Limited Liability Company established in (1415H) for the purpose of developing shipping activities including sea, air and land transportation activities all over the World. It was established in Riyadh City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a Board of Directors headed by the founding partner and General Manager Mr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Balawi.
International Ports Services, Dammam, Saudi Arabia (IPS), is a multi-purpose deep-water facility that operates and manages the container terminal at King Abdul Aziz Port, as well as break-bulk, Roro and refrigerated cargo. The facility is equipped with a dedicated container freight station (CFS) and a temperature-controlled reefer facility for the handling of reefer containers.
